Cybersecurity Influencers Give a Masterclass On the Use of Frameworks & Standards [Event Date TBD. Pre-Registration Open Now]
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to adopting a cybersecurity framework or standard to strengthen your cyber program. Responses can vary based on the industry, the experience or breadth of the IT or Cybersecurity team, or company size. In this webinar, professionals with two different approaches will come together to lead a masterclass on these methods, coming from their experience in the U.S.A. and Europe implementing various standards and frameworks throughout their careers.
In less than six months, Europe's data protection rules will undergo their biggest changes in over 20 years by means of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). One of the most important aspects of this regulation is that it expands the territorial scope of EU data protection laws. Starting May 25th, 2018, EU data protection laws will also apply outside of the EU in certain situations, with the result that certain non-EU organizations will also fall within its scope.
Non-compliance can result in fines of €20 million euro or 4% of a company’s annual global turnover, whichever is greater. The regulation requires companies to introduce best practice security solutions as well as organizational measures that offer the highest level of data protection.
On the U.S. side specifically, the NIST Cybersecurity Framework is dubbed the gold standard of cybersecurity by the U.S. government and has growing popularity in the private sector. Over 30% of U.S. businesses had adopted the Framework as of 2015, and Gartner projects that over 50% will have adopted the Framework in the next two years. The Framework is a thorough yet flexible, and can be highly efffective in strengthening the cybersecurity posture of any organization.
